Owens leaves game with foot injury
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Chicago White Sox center fielder Jerry Owens left Friday night's game against Minnesota in the fourth inning with strained toes on his left foot.
Owens led off the fourth with a double off Twins starter Boof Bonser. The rookie came up limping after sliding into second base and was examined by team trainers and manager Ozzie Guillen. He stayed in the game and scored on a single by Jim Thome two batters later.
Ryan Sweeney replaced Owens in the field in the bottom of the fourth.
Before the game, Guillen said he liked what he was seeing from Owens, who collected his first two big league hits Wednesday against Cleveland.
Owens went 1-for-2 Friday night and also made a nice running catch at the wall to take a hit away from Michael Cuddyer in the second.
