Title: HOF eligible 2007

spittin_cubscenities - January 11, 2006 04:42 PM (GMT)
Since the 2006 HOF voting left a lot to desire, here's 2007's to discuss. The good thing is a lot of us grew up watching and are familiar with all of these people about to be up for induction, makes this era a bit personal to everyone.

Harold Baines-doubtful
Derek Bell-no
Dante Bichette-no
Bobby Bonilla-no
Jeff Brantley-no
Jay Buhner-no
Ken Caminiti-no
Jose Canseco-definitely not
Eric Davis-no
Tony Fernandez-no
Tony Gwynn- first ballot
Darryl Hamilton-no
Pete Harnisch-no
Charlie Hayes-no
Glenallen Hill- played for the Cubs, one of my favorites, still no
Ken Hill-no
Stan Javier-no
Wally Joyner-no
Ramon Martinez-no
Mark McGwire- i would hope not
Paul O’Neill-eventually maybe third try
Gregg Olson-no
Cal Ripken Jr.- first ballot, should be anyway
Bret Saberhagen-eventually
Jeff Shaw-who?
Kevin Tapani- eventually
Devon White-no
Bobby Witt-no

still eligible 4 with best chance iin my mind:
Dawson- should be
Goose -maybe
Rice- definitly
Mattingly-should be

i like ur choices...Gwynn and Ripken are gueranteed first ballots or the writers are on some serious crack

TheHugeUnit - January 11, 2006 04:49 PM (GMT)
These are the only ones i would think would get in
Paul O’Neill
Mark McGwire
Cal Ripken Jr.
Tony Gwynn
-------------
I would hope Caminiti would be honored in someway he was a good player and a good guy i don't care if he took steriods or not, but i don't think he has a chance for the HOF

spittin_cubscenities - January 11, 2006 05:36 PM (GMT)
Why would Camaniti, be recognized as that when he was one of the first confirmed steriod users to be honored with the MVP, he was a good guy? Everyone is a good guy til you get to know them.

sidthekid87 - January 11, 2006 05:38 PM (GMT)
lol true enough...he did a lot for the organization i think is wut he is saying and maybe should have his number retired or someting
he said he only did them near the end of his career

spittin_cubscenities - January 11, 2006 05:49 PM (GMT)
Regardless, some one who knowingly cheated to reach his stature should not be rewarded for those acculades he achieved.

TheHugeUnit - January 11, 2006 06:38 PM (GMT)
Well a lot of players take steriods or took them at one point in their career and I bet some of them are in the HOF now, at least Ken told everyone what he did. IM not saying he should be in the HOF but he should be recognized for his achievement in the sport

sidthekid87 - January 11, 2006 06:43 PM (GMT)
i am really on the fence here...i dont know....like he was a damn good ball player and many before and after him used...so i am going to say no HOF but retire his number...lol compromise

NateFizzle - January 13, 2006 02:52 AM (GMT)
Gwynn and Ripken will definitly be first balloters. They are legends towards the game. I might be going to go to Cooperstown to see them get inducted which would be awesome since I've lived in San Diego and now live in Maryland.
*yay*

BlueJays1 - January 13, 2006 02:54 AM (GMT)
Do you think Tony Fernandez will ever get in??

He's the reason i have the 1 in my name :P

MrYankee - January 13, 2006 02:57 AM (GMT)
Gwynn and Ripken are DEFINETLY getting in

Alan Trammel is still on the ballot, is he not?

The original list was the first time eligible for 2007.

Iluvkm15 - January 17, 2006 02:22 PM (GMT)
I'm really hoping that Jim Rice makes it next year.

BigPapi06 - February 14, 2006 12:46 AM (GMT)
Jim Rice, Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gwynn had better get in next year, or the voters must be on some serious crack cocaine.

I will be extremely furious. *supermad* *angry*

mpic92 - February 14, 2006 01:03 AM (GMT)
I'm not sure Rice will make it. Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gwynn will make it.

hankaaron44 - February 14, 2006 01:47 AM (GMT)
Blyleven and Smith I would want in if it were a perfect world but 4 now, I want McGwire in.

RedRuffing15 - February 14, 2006 12:23 PM (GMT)
I see this as a Goose, Gwynn, Ripken HOF, and since Gwynn and Ripken are 2 of my favorates, and Goose was a Yankees, you'r sure to see me down there

The only one up there not likley i Goose, He might he might noyt, but sorry, I don't see Rice this time around either *idunno*

sidthekid87 - February 14, 2006 03:44 PM (GMT)
mcgwire shhould get in imo....cause steroids were not considered cheating then and he did lead the revival of baseball..without him the sport would be in worse shape than it is now

nixon4prez - February 15, 2006 06:55 AM (GMT)
I have heard some talk that the writers will make McGwire wait a year. Reason for that being is they do not want anything to tarnish the day or take any attention away from Ripken and Gwynn. They want this to be a real special day for those two and do not want any talks of McGwire contreversies to take anything away from them that day. I heard one writer who has a vote say that on foxsports radio one morning.
