Rockies add five players

DENVER (AP) -- The Colorado Rockies added five players Thursday, recalling outfielders Jeff Baker and Jeff Salazar and right-handed pitcher Denny Bautista from Colorado Springs and purchasing the contracts of left-handers Justin Hampson and Mike Venafro from the Triple-A team.

"Jeff Baker will be given plenty of opportunity to play and not just against left-handed pitchers," Colorado manager Clint Hurdle said. "I like a lot of the things that Jeff Salazar does. He does need work on his bunting and base stealing."

Right-hander Mike DeJean was transferred from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day DL to make room on the 40-man roster.

I think it's good that they are getting a look at some of their prosepcts and letting them get some playing time. I don't know what happened to this team?
