SAN DIEGO -- Josh Barfield had never hit a walk-off home run. Not in Little League, not in high school, and not in his four seasons in the Minor Leagues.

"You try to do it all the time, it just never happens," said Barfield.

It happened on Monday night for the 23-year-old, as he launched a three-run walk-off blast to left field for a 7-5 win over Colorado, giving him four RBIs on the night and allowing San Diego to inch closer to the National League West-leading Dodgers, now just two games ahead in the division.

The Padres are running on all cylinders, and thanks to him their momentum was not killed.

That's so true. They are only 1 game back of LA right now and are leading the WC.

McAnulty hit a walkoff shot yesterday to give the Padres the 2-0 win in extras.
