Title: Light Ray Tutorial

KeepTheFaith - July 29, 2006 09:10 PM (GMT)
So many people have been asking me how to do this so here is the tut.

Normally you would do it in a sig, but I will do it on a blank document to give an example. Make a new layer under your render layer(s).

Turn off the eye on the render layer, and in the tools window right click on the lasso and get the polygonal lasso

Start to draw the rays with the lasso, like so:

I ended up with this:

Fill it in with white (or whatever) with the paint bucket. If it was in a sig, I would blend it, but I am just using this as an example to make it as clear as possible.

Final result:

I know the final result looks bad, but again, I am just using this as an example.

Hope this helps.

Thanks to whoever pinned it, but I want to keep it open to make sure no one has any problems with it

I think GIMP has a polygonal lasso somewhere. I hope it does...

Should this just be in the tutorial topic?

and in the tut you have them crooked and not perfectly straight, just hold down shift to make it straight.

That works in brushing as well.

the great bert monroy taught it to me...(and my classmates)
