Title: Catchers whose name begins with 'Y'.

bsbllboy007 - July 20, 2006 02:22 AM (GMT)
What baseball team has had two catchers whose name begins with "Y"?
Just to make sure it is clear, this is first names only. The players last name has no bearing on the answer.

Yadier Molina

 thats all i know

KeepTheFaith - July 20, 2006 02:24 AM (GMT)
Yorvit Terrealba?

braveschopbraves - July 20, 2006 02:26 AM (GMT)
is it a current team or former team?

sfgkml - July 20, 2006 02:30 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I was gonna say Yadier Molina and Yorvit Torrealba cause they're the only catchers I know that start with Y.. but they aren't on the same team.

Yamid Haad was on the Giants, was he on them the same time Torrealba was on SF?

Maybe Yogi Berra had a Y catcher teammate.

KeepTheFaith - July 20, 2006 02:39 AM (GMT)
How could we forget Yogi Berra!

Hm.. good question, but I don't think they were ever on the Giants team at the same time, because Haad served as a backup and so did Yorvit. I believe Haad came up last year, after we had Matheny.

EDIT:
I think we brought Haad up from the Minors AFTER we had traded Yorvit to the Mariners for Winn.

they actually were (2005), and Matheny was on that team also...

I like what you've done with the names gone, but sorry thats not it. The problem with this trivia question is apparentally I don't even know the right answer. It is a question on a trivia game that a local radio station runs and both the Giants and Rockies have had 2 catchers whose first names begin with Y but those apparentally are not what they are looking for.

to braveschop: It seems as if it isn't a current team but rather a former team.

Yoko Ono played catcher for Japan

That doesn't take into account that we traded Yorvit away.

Before we traded for Randy Winn:

Catchers: Matheny and Torrealba

TRADED Yorvit and Foppert for Winn

Catchers: Matheny and Haad (brought up as back-up since Yorvit was gone)

So they weren't on the Giants at the same time.

bsbllboy007 - July 21, 2006 02:45 AM (GMT)
I never said they had to be on the team at the same time.

sfgkml - July 21, 2006 03:08 AM (GMT)
Oh, okay, then Yorvit and Yamid.
