Title: 101st anniversary of " Moonlight " Graham's debut

Remember Ray Kinsella walking down the streets at night in Chistholm in the movie, Field of Dreams, and he asks the old man/ghost, " excuse me...are you Moonlight Graham? " and the old man replies, " ah, no one's called me that in 50 years! "

Well today marks the 101st anniversary of his major league debut in which he played one inning in right field, never go to bat, and the next day, he was sent right back down to the minors.

I really don't understand why they sent him down

I really can't understand why it's such a big deal.

It's a big deal because it's a rare occurance and because well his name is cool. Also, this is a big deal since everyone likes Field of Dreams.

He actually made it into the baseball enclyopedia! That is the bible of all fans. He made his mark, he was remembered for all time, he actually got into a major league game. THAT IS a BIG deal.

it really isnt that big a deal in the aspect that this same thing has happened for thousands of players over the years, who have gone unrecognized. w.p. kinsella said that he was just flipping through the encyclopedia and grahams name caught his eye.

the reason he is a big deal to some including me, to a certain extent, is that his name is synonymous with something we all love and enjoy. Field of dreams is my favorite movie, not necessarily because its a baseball flick, but because its just a badass movie, and grahams parts in the movie always choke me up. and just the fact that that he was such a good person outside of baseball makes me really happy that we were all given a chance to know who he was.
